JULIE KOVAR

JULIE’S LEGACY — THE JULIE KOVAR FUND

Julie Kovar, a Penn State University student and aspiring first-grade teacher, accomplished more by age 20 than some people do in an entire lifetime.  As a college junior studying elementary education, Julie was a committed student who volunteered her time in the classroom and had plans to begin formal student teaching the following year. The knowledge of how profound a sound educational foundation can be to a growing young mind is what inspired her. To honor Julie’s passion for life and for instruction, her parents established the Julie Kovar Fund to benefit elementary school students.

Since establishment of the fund in 2007, Julie Kovar Fund grants have included awards for the following:

  • Field trips to the Maritime Aquarium for first-grade classes at Classical Studies Academy, Bridgeport, CT
  • Classroom lockers for the kindergarten class in the inaugural year of the Horizons at Sacred Heart University Program
  • Art supplies for Roosevelt Elementary School, Bridgeport, CT
  • Contribution to new playground fund at the Six-to-Six Magnet School, Bridgeport, CT
  • School supplies for first graders, Classical Studies Academy, Bridgeport, CT
