Donald Berkowitz Left a Legacy for Both Jewish and non-Jewish Causes
During his lifetime, Donald Berkowitz was very philanthropic. He served on the board of his synagogue, Congregation Mishkan Israel and donated art to the synagogue, he supported the United Way, his alma mater, and the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield, which had taken such wonderful care of his wife. At his death, Donald established an endowment fund at the Jewish Foundation for the benefit of those organizations that were important to him: (i) The Jewish Home for the Elderly, Fairfield; (ii) The United Way of Greater New Haven; (iii) The School of Business Administration at the University of Michigan; and (iv) Congregation Mishkan Israel’s religious school. His endowment fund, the “Donald Berkowitz Memorial Fund” will pay income to each of the Donald’s named charitable causes, in perpetuity.
