The Malin Family Established “The Malin Family Tzedakah Fund in Memory of Solly Jack Chimes”

“In Judaism, giving Tzedakah is one of the highest commandments. It is one of the three acts that gain us forgiveness from our sins. Giving to the less fortunate is an obligation, not a choice. We all need to give Tzedakah, no matter what our own personal circumstance.”-Karen Malin

The Malin Family established “The Malin Family Tzedakah Fund in Memory of Solly Jack Chimes”. Their fund, named after Karen’s father, is a Philanthropic Fund—they received an income tax deduction in the year in which they donated appreciated property to the fund –the deduction was for the fair market value of the property and they did not have to pay capital gains. The fund allows them to make recommendations to the charities they choose-the recommendations can be made over time or all at once.
