Mary Taylor Friedler Memorial Scholarship for High School Seniors
Mary Taylor Friedler Memorial Scholarship Fund established in 1991 with an initial gift from Saul Friedler in memory of his wife to provide a college scholarship to a Jewish high school senior from Greater New Haven. The scholarship is not needs-based and requires an essay concerning what peace, justice and righteousness mean to you and your Judaism. Awards average $1,000. Deadline: May 30, 2025

Eligibility for Mary Taylor Friedler Scholarship Fund
To be considered, applicants must:
- Reside in New Haven County catchment area for at least one year (click here for a map of the towns within the catchment area), be a Jewish High School senior with a “B” average or better.
- Submit, in its entirety, ALL of the information required below, by May 30, 2025. (This means that you have already been accepted to the school of your choice).
Applicants must include:
- The completed online application.
- An essay concerning what your judaism means to you.
- An official copy of high school transcript, including the first marking period of the senior year.
- A copy of the college acceptance letter describing the college’s financial aid package plus other grants, scholarships and awards received.
- The applicant must submit 2 letters of recommendation from (2) of the following individuals: Rabbi, teacher, coach, or other formal advisor.
- If you have received addtional scholarships, you must upload the award letter(s).
